Comissioning

Commissioning

Commissioning is an intensive quality assurance process that commences during design continuing through construction, occupancy, and operations of new buildings. The process ensures that the new building operates as the owner intended, also ensuring that the building staff are prepared to operate and maintain its systems and equipment.

Requirements

The Commissioning Authority (CxA) for a project can be a representative of the owner. For projects over 50,000 square feet, the CxA must not have other project responsibilities. One option is an independent consultant contracted to the owner, regardless of project size, and may bring more value by providing improved objectivity and a different perspective than someone associated with the design team.

Process

Partner Energy performs commissioning in collaboration with the owner, as well as with the design and construction teams. As the Commissioning Authority, Partner Energy manages the following tasks:

  • Functional Performance Test Procedures
  • Systems Manual Documentation and Operator Training
  • Commissioning Report

Partner Energy provides the Final Commissioning Report to document the commissioning process. The scope above includes testing the system twice.
